The song above is another favorite of mine. I hope you take the time to listen to it. :-)
There are many times in life and especially in the Christmas season, when we must choose to declare, "It is well with my soul!" It's the time of year when we're out and about with the masses of people as far as the eye can see (especially if you're in line for the Star Wars movie premiere)! If you look around, in five minutes time, you'll see people fighting for parking spots, for places in the check-out line, for the hottest toys of the season, or even the last of the special coffee at the local coffee shop. Fighting! Grumbling. Complaining! This is the time of year to reflect on the goodness of God in our lives, the time to be thankful for all God has done. It's the season to celebrate the BEST GIFT we have ever received...eternal life! Salvation. A living relationship with a very living God! There are many songs about Santa sung in December, but Santa didn't change my life. Jesus changed my life! He's the best gift I've ever received. Since Jesus gave of Himself for me, I can give and be a blessing to others. Freely I have received from God, so freely I can give like He does. That may mean letting another person have "your" parking spot, or letting a mom with three young children go in front of you at the check-out line (I have some first-hand knowledge of what it's like to shop with three little ones, not always a walk in the park!), or sharing a smile and a caring compassionate conversation with a sad soul. There are so many ways available to us to be a blessing to other people in these times we live in! There's so much to see when we look outside of ourselves, and our little world. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in new ways to be a blessing to those around you. And choose to say, "It is well with my soul!" Until next time... Adam
